Speech and Language Therapy Group

People with intensive care needs who have difficulty with communication and/or swallowing require timely access to a Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service. The specific value of SLT input within the intensive care setting and inclusion as a key member of the multidisciplinary team is now recognised in a number of national documents.

The purpose of the SLT subgroup is to promote, develop and share learning with regards to SLT services within the intensive care setting, throughout the Thames Valley and Wessex Network.

The group provides a forum for collaboration and the sharing of lessons and outcomes for the benefit of stakeholders within the Network and beyond, to improve patient and staff experience.
