GPICs V3 Audit Toolkit Now Available

The Intensive Care Society (ICS) and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) have launched the GPICS V3 Audit Toolkit, a new resource designed to support critical care units and networks in implementing and monitoring the Guidelines for the Provision of Intensive Care Services (GPICS) Version 3.
Sepsis Modern Service Framework Published

The Sepsis Modern Service Framework (MSF) has now been published by NHS England, representing a significant step forward in improving the recognition, treatment, and ongoing management of sepsis across health and care systems. As one of the first Modern Service Frameworks to be released, the Sepsis MSF adopts a whole-system approach, setting clear expectations for the delivery of high-quality, equitable, and consistent care across the entire patient pathway and all relevant professional groups. The framework covers: Early identification and prevention in community settings Urgent and emergency care services Acute hospital treatment and management Recovery, rehabilitation, and follow-up care By bringing together every stage of the patient journey, the framework aims to strengthen coordination between services, support timely recognition of sepsis, and ensure patients receive evidence-based care wherever they access healthcare. The Sepsis MSF is designed to support nationally led, locally delivered improvement programmes and accelerate the adoption of best practice and innovation across both NHS and social care services. It also serves as a key delivery mechanism for the ambitions set out in the NHS 10-Year Health Plan and aligns with the priorities of the National Quality Strategy. Key areas of focus include: Strengthening patient, carer, and staff involvement in service improvement Tackling health inequalities and improving equity of access to care Supporting innovation and the spread of best practice Delivering measurable and sustainable improvements in patient outcomes Promoting continuous quality improvement across health and care systems The publication of the framework provides an important opportunity for organisations across Kent, Surrey and Sussex to review current sepsis pathways, assess local practice, and identify opportunities to further improve care and outcomes for patients with sepsis. The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Adult Critical Care Network will be supporting implementation of the framework through future network meetings, providing opportunities for trusts to share updates, learn from one another, and discuss approaches to delivering improvements in sepsis care across the region.
