The Network has a new Manager - Meet Margi

Here is an intro from Margi:

Many of you will know me already, from many years of working in ICU in various units and roles. For those of you who don’t, my name is Margi Jenkins and I am very pleased to introduce myself as the new Lead Nurse/Manager for the South-West Critical Care Network. This will be a 50/50 job split between my Matron post in Bath and the network role.

My nursing journey in Critical Care started in cardiac surgery ICU, moving to general adult ICU, later as a specialist nurse in organ donation – covering the South-West, to my most recent post, as Matron in the ICU in Bath. Co-leading our unit through COVID, and more recently the build of our new ICU, has reinforced my belief in the power of strong teams and shared purpose.

As I step into this role, our focus for the Adult Critical Care Network will support alignment of GPICS v3, ensuring we continue to strengthen our workforce, supporting training and education, improving service resilience, enhancing collaboration across units, refining patient pathways and supporting equitable access to high‑quality critical care across the region. We know we are all working against a backdrop of significant NHS funding challenges, and part of our focus will be on helping teams navigate these pressures while protecting the standards of care our patients deserve. The experience I bring, my commitment and passion for ICU, will continue to drive me to advocate for our services while helping teams adapt in ways that maintain safety, quality, and staff wellbeing.

I have always felt privileged to be part of our community, witnessed at its best though the pandemic. I’m excited to begin this new chapter, to work alongside you all as we continue to develop a resilient high-quality critical care system for the South-West.
